Welcome to Gamerative, an independent gaming publication based in Istanbul, Türkiye. We exist to help readers spend their gaming time and money well — through honest reviews, in-depth guides, sharp opinion, and the occasional deep dive into the design choices that shape the games we love.
Who we are
Gamerative was founded by a small team of writers, editors, and lifelong players. Our coverage spans:
- Reviews — verdicts on new releases across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, mobile, and VR.
- Guides and walkthroughs — beginner-friendly explainers, advanced strategies, and quest-by-quest companions for the games people are actually playing.
- News and features — what’s happening in the industry, why it matters, and what to keep an eye on next.
- Best-of lists — curated rankings to help readers find their next favourite game, controller, or accessory.
- Game design — the craft behind the games, including sound, narrative, and the making-of stories that often go untold.
We cover the games we play. If we have not played enough of a title to form a view, we will say so, rather than guess.
Our mission
Gaming has grown into one of the world’s biggest creative industries. The volume of content released every week — across consoles, storefronts, subscriptions, and mobile — has never been larger. Our mission is to be a clear, trustworthy companion for players who want to cut through the noise and find what’s worth their time.
We write for readers, not for publishers, platforms, or advertisers.
Our editorial principles
- Independence. Our reviews, opinions, and recommendations are our own. They are not for sale. No publisher, developer, or advertiser has the power to change a verdict or kill a piece on Gamerative.
- Transparency. Where a relationship could influence how a reader perceives our coverage, we disclose it — affiliate links, sponsorships, review units, press trips, family ties to a studio. Our Disclaimer explains how this works.
- Hands-on coverage. Reviews are written by people who have actually played the game on the platform stated, for a reasonable amount of time. Guides are written by people who have completed the content they are guiding readers through.
- Corrections. We do make mistakes. When we get something wrong, we correct it, label the correction, and explain what changed.
- Respect for the audience. We do not engage in clickbait, fake outrage, manufactured controversy, or AI-generated content presented as human writing. Where AI tools are used in the workflow (for example, to transcribe interviews or check spelling), a human writer and editor are responsible for the final piece.
Our approach to reviews
Every review on Gamerative is built on the same foundation:
- Time with the game. We do not publish a review of a 40-hour RPG after two hours of play. Where a publisher embargo limits play time before release, we say so.
- Platform clarity. We tell you which platform we played on, the build version, and any patches applied during testing.
- Performance notes. Where relevant, we share what we observed in terms of frame rate, load times, bugs, and stability.
- Comparison. We compare a game to its peers and to its predecessors, not to an imaginary ideal.
- Scores. We use scores or final verdicts as a summary, never as a substitute for the writing. The text always carries the argument.
How we are funded
Gamerative is supported by:
- Display advertising served through ad networks, primarily Google AdSense and its certified vendors.
- Affiliate partnerships with online retailers. When readers buy through one of our links, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to them.
- Sponsored content that is clearly labelled as such, kept separate from our editorial coverage, and produced under the same standards as the rest of the Site.
We do not charge for access. We do not sell reader data. Our Privacy Policy explains in detail how we handle information.
Where we sit
Gamerative is based in Istanbul, Türkiye. We publish in English and write for a global audience, with a particular interest in the Turkish and wider Middle Eastern gaming scene — one of the fastest-growing markets in the world, with a deep base of players and a healthy local development community. Our coverage is not limited to the region; we cover the games and platforms that matter wherever they come from.
Our team
Gamerative is a small editorial operation. Articles are signed by the writer responsible. Where a piece is a collaboration, every contributor is credited.
