Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 is entering its third year of post-launch support with a thunderous roundhouse kick as the iconic Muay Thai master Sagat joins the roster on August 5. A staple of the series and longtime rival to Ryu, Sagat’s return marks a nostalgic and powerful start to the Year 3 character pass.
Sagat first appeared as the final boss of the original Street Fighter and later rose to fame as a major member of M. Bison’s Shadaloo syndicate in Street Fighter II. Known for his towering physique, eye patch, and devastating Tiger Knee and Tiger Uppercut techniques, Sagat is one of the most beloved and feared characters in the franchise’s history.
Though Capcom has yet to show full gameplay footage for Sagat in Street Fighter 6, fans can expect his traditional Muay Thai style to be fully intact, complete with his signature long-range normals and powerful zoning tools. His reveal trailer offers a cinematic glimpse, but further breakdowns of his move set and fighting strategy are expected in the weeks leading up to his release.
In addition to joining the versus roster, Sagat will also appear in Street Fighter 6‘s World Tour mode as a new Master. Players will travel to Thailand and meet him under unusual circumstances; after encountering a mysterious spectral tiger in the jungle, they come face-to-face with Sagat, who makes a dramatic entrance by carrying and crushing a massive log. Like other Masters in World Tour, players can train under him, learn his classic moves, and incorporate his techniques into their custom avatars for use in battles across the game’s open-world story mode.
The inclusion of Sagat as both a fighter and mentor adds further depth to Street Fighter 6’s evolving World Tour experience, which blends open-world exploration with RPG elements and character bonding mechanics.
Sagat’s arrival kicks off an exciting Year 3 roadmap for Street Fighter 6. Following him, Crimson Viper (C. Viper), the electrifying secret agent introduced in Street Fighter IV, is set to join the roster in Fall 2025. Fan-favorite grappler Alex returns in early Spring 2026, bringing his Street Fighter III style and pro-wrestling flair back to the ring. Finally, the mystical Ingrid, last seen in crossover titles and Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, will close out the Year 3 character pass in late Spring 2026.
